Vegetative growth is the stage after the seedling stage and starts about 2-3 weeks after the seed sprouted from the grow medium. The lights must be kept on for at least 16 hours per day. Lights with a cool light spectrum are best for vegetative growth. Theoretically plants can grow for ever in this stage it is up to the grower how long they keep the plants in this stage for the longer they do the bigger the plants will get.

At optimum levels (also depending on the strain) plans can grow 2 inches per day! Vegetative nutrients should be given at this stage.

It is recommended that you keep a mother plant (select the strongest plant to be the mother plant strong mother = strong clones) in the vegetative stage so you can have a constant supply of clones so you don't have to start from seed again and the clone will be guaranteed female.

when the plants become well rooted (see pic) its time to transplant into a bigger pot so they can continue rapid growth. Note that you can grow a huge plant in a small pot but it will grow slower and need watering more often and its more important for mother plants to have bigger pots . Plants will also benefit from fresh soil but growth will slow or stop for up to 3 days after transplanting due to shock.
